Eight more weeks!

Community Garden

Waiting and watching the veggies grow is a process I very much enjoy. We got to sample a few radishes today after thinning their thickening row. As a family we have looked forward to our almost daily walks down to our plot to tend to and just relax looking at the little sprouts arising out of the ground.

how he does it

We are a bit confused as to why he insists using the facilities in this manner. At least he keeps his sock on...

around the house

March 24, 2011

We have been enjoying the last few days of warmer weather, and sun. It has seem to help my frame of mind and desire to do things. I had purchased a vintage pattern at our last thrift store outing and am looking forward to making a shirt or two for our future little one. The gown isn't on the top of my list or must haves if you were wondering. This coming Monday we will hopefully be able to determine the blue or pink status of my growing belly. We are all excited about this. Chael is starting to really be aware of this change and talks often of mama's baby. He also has in mind that he is getting a sister...so we will see.

Bread making has found its was back into my weekly routine recently. Often Chael and I will have a slice of whole wheat bread topped with a slice of cheese. The pictures of our crumbs show the evidence of this snack.

Another routine we have began here in our new home is nightly candlelight dinners. We are missing a light above our table so we had to get creative in creating light while we ate. I guess candles aren't that creative but it does feel special to light the candles in preparation for our meal. Chael always asks to sing happy birthday, so sometimes we do.

Another project I began today was starting to fill the many frames leading to the top of our stairs. I have had the frames in place for two months but have not been inspired on how to fill them. I was successful in filling two, and have another in progress. (The above picture is before I started) I really love this area of my home. It is brightest spot due to the skylight and seeing artwork and pictures that inspire is always refreshing. I wish I could have a big comfy chair right in the middle of the stairs to enjoy it more.

One more random thing I did and throughly found relaxing was IRONING! I must admit I never almost never iron. Only on a Sunday morning when things are rushed and shirts need pressed. But today I decided to tackle a pile of linens that had been left in the dryer way too long and were in an unusable state until they had been ironed. With Chael occupied in the bath I began the task. Watching the wrinkles and folds leave the cloth was intensely satisfying. Many I know will not agree with that statement, but to me it was a moment of thanksgiving and I was completely filled with joy. I love how the Lord will use the simple tasks to give us those sweet gifts. For me today it was ironing.
