I missed my cup of coffee this morning. My husband usually has a nice cup ready for me when I get out of bed or at least in the the thermos (due to my slow waking up). No beans means no coffee. So instead I found myself drinking a watery cup of International Delight French Vanilla instant coffee...no comparison to my husbands brew.

So I am learning how to be ok with the mess. Now that Chael is moving I am finding it is hard to keep the house looking untouched. Not only is it the toys but the coasters, placemats, pillows, and everything else he can reach. My rugs are always crooked and the windows have a strange a smudged look to them all the time. I have to say too that the time that I am getting "real clothes" on has become later and later. My house now looks very touched and my appearance very untouched.
As I learn to let go of the little things I find that I can enjoy the little things. If that makes sense. Finding Elmo on the floor in the morning is such a sweet reminder of the precious gift God has given to me. And when I trip over the blocks it is still a gift.
As for my new style, I am just calling it a natural look.

I have been working like crazy to get packed for Chael and my mini vacation. It won't be exactly like a vacation because our favorite man won't be there but we will try to have as much fun as we can. As Chael and I are headed up to Oregon, Michael will be headed down to sunny California with a van full of junior and high school age kids. The yearly mission trip will ensue. I have to say I am going to miss that trip this year but I am very excited to see all my family and celebrate a wedding. Anyway all that to say because of the trip I have consequently been doing all the laundry to prepare! As I leaned over and looked up I saw my detergent with a sunburst streaming from the top. I dropped the laundry basket and grabbed the camera. I have been wanting to experiment with flares and I think this was a fun way to try. I also read this great post yesterday about light and flares that was very inspiring. So back to my packing will be back in a week. Hopefully with many more flares to share!

I was surprised this morning as I checked my morning blogs to see the latest posts, to find my photo of Chael and Cabela on Shutter Sisters' oneword project page. It was pretty shocking to see one of my photos on a real blog. It makes me want to head out and take some more pictures. In fact I think Chael and I will go exploring in the bicycle today! Doesn't that sound like fun??? I love a fresh new day when the sun is shinning, the grass is green, and the peas need picking. Enjoy your day!

So I have accomplished yet another milestone in my sewing adventures. I have successfully sewn a dress for myself! It fits wonderfully and I actually like it. Surprisingly so, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Zippers, interfacing, hemming, are not as hard as they sound. I do have to give credit to my mother who patiently helped and answered my questions when need be. The original pattern is found here. I made a few slight abbreviations to the dress by leaving off the ruffle and lengthening my dress a bit. I add a belt which I can remove and change out with other belts. I plan on making a vintage floral print belt soon.
I have found though that at this point much of my sewing time is taken with fixing the machine, rethreading the machine, pleading with the machine to work right. My mom says that a sewing machine is like a horse...it can sense when you are scared. I laughed at her and said "Mom it is a machine!" but deep down I think she might be right...
