Chael loves this blanket. He has had it since he was two months old and even then had an attraction to this particular blanket given to him by his Papa and Gigi. When he was very young I could tell he liked how it felt. He was always rubbing it between his little hands and exploring the soft texture of its fibers. When he started to become mobile the blanket became an issue because it wasn't a child's size blanket but rather a full sized bed covering. We soon decided that it must be divided so that it was easier to carry. He didn't mind. At age one the sucking started. This is very strange to me. Chael never had a binky or even took a bottle but for some reason he LOVES sucking on this furry blanket. He twists and turns it so it is jammed into his entire mouth. The photos are demonstrating all the things one can do when you have a blanket hanging out of your mouth.

He woke up like this today smiling and with a mouth full. This morning I found myself wide awake at 5:30 when Micheal's alarms went off. We don't just have one but two. One of which is an old fashioned bell style alarm clock. I rarely hear either. But this morning my eyes opened and I was to my amazement awake. I haven't been up this early since Chael was still nursing at that hour. That has been over a year ago. I enjoyed it, getting to drink my coffee while it was still hot, spending time reading undistributed, and even a morning run without a stroller. My eyes are tired now but the benefits of getting up before my baby awakes was nice. I might try it again soon.
