around the house

Posted by Abby Littleton on Thursday, March 24, 2011, In : thoughts

We have been enjoying the last few days of warmer weather, and sun. It has seem to help my frame of mind and desire to do things. I had purchased a vintage pattern at our last thrift store outing and am looking forward to making a shirt or two for our future little one. The gown isn't on the top of my list or must haves if you were wondering. This coming Monday we will hopefully be able to determine the blue or pink status of my growing belly. We are all excited about this. Chael is starting ...

transitions

Posted by Abby Littleton on Monday, November 22, 2010, In : thoughts

I have been thinking quite a bit lately about the word "home" and all that those four little letters imply. Our family is in a transition phase right now and so it has caused me to consider what "home" means. Also my occupation if written out would be homemaker. If I am making this thing called home, it would be beneficial to be able to articulate what home means? Home brings up so many different thoughts and ideas.

The first being the physical place I am living. As we have moved and left our...

fear

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, In : thoughts

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

I have been feeling so overwhelmed the past few days and scared. Fear is so disabling I have learned through the years. I continually go to this verse when my faith is failing me. Reading it slow and stopping after each phase brings comfort in my weakness. It is absolutely amazing how God meets us right where we are, scared and ...

early

Chael loves this blanket. He has had it since he was two months old and even then had an attraction to this particular blanket given to him by his Papa and Gigi. When he was very young I could tell he liked how it felt. He was always rubbing it between his little hands and exploring the soft texture of its fibers. When he started to become mobile the blanket became an issue because it wasn't a child's size blanket but rather a full sized bed covering. We soon decided that it must be divided s...

ceaseless praise

Posted by Abby Littleton on Sunday, April 4, 2010, In : thoughts

May thy cross be to me

    as the tree that sweetens my bitter Marahs,

    as the rod that blossoms with life and beauty,

    as the brazen serpent that calls forth the look of faith.

By thy cross crucify my every sin;

Use it to increase my intimacy with thyself;

Make it the ground of all my comfort,

    the liveliness of all my duties,

    the sum of all thy gospel promises,

    the comfort of all my afflictions,

    the vigor of my love, thankfulness, graces,

    the very essence of my reli...

stiches

Posted by Abby Littleton on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, In : thoughts

I am trying to develop my embroidery skills. What I have learned is that my skills are very limited and knotted thread is a test of patience. I was happy to find this book for .25 this weekend in a thrift store. It is filled with cute little stitches and perfection in its demonstrations of what they are supposed to look like. Mine are far from even, straight, and many times I think would be considered knots over stitches. I have a tendency to leave difficult projects on the table until dust a...

change

Posted by Abby Littleton on Thursday, February 18, 2010, In : thoughts

The sun was shining so Chael and I couldn't resist the porch swing today. It felt so good to have that sun shining in my eyes. I love they way skin tingles under its warmth. I of course got sidetracked from the swing to the interesting items leftover from the fall and Chael to the dwindling wood pile. Also I was excited to signs that winter may not last forever with the new growth on the honeysuckle and buds on the lilacs.

So thankful for change in seasons, in weather and in life.

simplicity

Posted by Abby Littleton on Friday, January 22, 2010, In : thoughts

I love how the Lord speaks to us through the most simple moments. In the simplicity He speaks. It isn't something we can force or make happen. In the Lord's timing and in His way will He speak.
