I love you Michael Littleton.

the "mega flying glass"

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, In : family

Hours of fun with the, as Chael would call it, "mega flying glass". I love playing with these two boys in the moody light trickling in from our window. Many giggles were produced after looking at the pictures on the computer screen from Chael. Denny's large nose brought the most joy. I love how two days after Christmas we can be found playing with the empty wrapping paper rolls, using them as swords and telescopes. Life with boys is amazing.

Day 10

Posted by Abby Littleton on Thursday, October 13, 2011, In : 30 days

Day 10: Three year old boys.

Chael does not enjoy the "Happy Birthday" song. His way to cope with the tune is to violently rub his eyes. Of course I remember growing up and having panic attacks at the thought of being sung to on my birthday. When I reached an age to make demands the song was not allowed at my parties. The worst memory of the dreaded tune was when I was six or seven and was taken to a mexican restaurant for dinner. The sombrero appeared and about ten employees to wish me the b...

Yesterday was busy and I didn't touch my camera. This isn't going to be a consecutive project as I have broken that twice now. I guess that is to be expected as my days are far from routine or scheduled right now. I am continuing today with this image. I love these letters on our fridge as I am often gifted with messages left by visitors. I often find names of children that have came and played or this message left by someone from our SOMA group that meets weekly in our home. "Give thanks" i...

30 days

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, In : 30 days

I have been a bit lost lately with the day to dayness (this should be a word) I find myself in. I occasionally go through these seasons that are hard but I know are being used to teach me. Right now I am in process of learning to be thankful for the gifts I am given daily. The simple ones like holding my hairy baby's head, baby breath, fresh veggies, two year old's stories, the muscles on my hubby's arms. They are good things that the Lord has made. So I am taking a month to post a photo dail...

He is always happy during the day or should I say he is always asleep during the day. I know this time will pass soon so I am trying to enjoy the sleepless nights and sleepy days.

transitions

Posted by Abby Littleton on Monday, November 22, 2010, In : thoughts

I have been thinking quite a bit lately about the word "home" and all that those four little letters imply. Our family is in a transition phase right now and so it has caused me to consider what "home" means. Also my occupation if written out would be homemaker. If I am making this thing called home, it would be beneficial to be able to articulate what home means? Home brings up so many different thoughts and ideas.

The first being the physical place I am living. As we have moved and left our...

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

I have been feeling so overwhelmed the past few days and scared. Fear is so disabling I have learned through the years. I continually go to this verse when my faith is failing me. Reading it slow and stopping after each phase brings comfort in my weakness. It is absolutely amazing how God meets us right where we are, scared and ...

Oh it feels good to be home! Today is the first day back into our normal routine after a very full month. Looking through the pictures I took I decided there are way too many to post in one lump so I am slowly going to share some of my favorite images from our trips for the next few days. We have spent two weeks in Costa Rica, a week home resting, and a week camping. Seeing my husband for so many consecutive days was really nice! I also read three books in two weeks. These word are only going to be able capture a peek into what God did through and to my team and me these last two weeks we spent in Nicoya Costa Rica. It was an amazing trip that I got to see God work powerfully. It was continually brought to light how God’s power is made perfect in our weakness.

As we prepared to land after a fourteen hours of travel my stomach began those annoying butterflies. We couldn’t see the land were landing in because the evening had set in. We were positioned a...

Chael has been one unhappy little boy the last two days. His two year molars are creeping in very slowly causing much discomfort. He has been pointing in his mouth crying, "mama my teeth, my teeth." It has been hard on both of us. I found him this morning sleeping standing up after a non-sleep night. His dad said he was found like this at some point during the day too.

On a funny note, I had left Chael watching Elmo while I went to work on a quick project and when I had returned he had filled ...

Chael loves this blanket. He has had it since he was two months old and even then had an attraction to this particular blanket given to him by his Papa and Gigi. When he was very young I could tell he liked how it felt. He was always rubbing it between his little hands and exploring the soft texture of its fibers. When he started to become mobile the blanket became an issue because it wasn't a child's size blanket but rather a full sized bed covering. We soon decided that it must be divided s...

Chael and I love clean sheet day. He loves to snuggle and jump in to the used sheets I pile on the floor. Though he is growing out of the peek-a-boo stage he still will please his mama by pulling a sheet over his head and laughing when he reappears. I know he does this just for me.

My favorite part of clean sheet day is ending my day snuggled in the clean ones.

So thankful for the daily rhythms and patterns.

Dinner time never fails to spark a game of peek-a-boo. His little hands go over his face, sometimes covered in dinner remains, and he waits for the responding person to ask frantically, CHAEL? CHAEL?." With much delight he peeks through his chubby fingers to make sure you haven't forgotten about your game. His laughter is nothing short of a sweet music to his mama when he reveals his food smudged face.

So thankful right now for dimpled fingers and elbows.

Chael and I made blondies today. He helped me scoop and measure, and of course clean the bowl. He loves to help out Mike and I with whatever task is at hand. He also ate an entire bowl of oatmeal this morning with a spoon all by himself! The cliche of "he is growing up so fast" is oh so true right now...

better to live on a roof

Posted by Abby Littleton on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, In : family

I am having one of those days. My poor hubby. I am sure a few choice verses from Proverbs were ringing true this morning for him. (They are always true but the ones about a contentious wife and living on the roof were, I am sure, coming to mind.) So for now I am awaiting the arrival of my hubby (to apologize) and am so thankful the Lord's mercy endures forever!!

rubber duck

Posted by Abby Littleton on Thursday, January 14, 2010, In : family

The last few days have been filled with much cleaning and scrubbing. I was recently diagnosed with having a staff infection on both my ears. The doctor assured me that this had nothing at all to do with hygiene and that some people just are susceptible to it. None the less this has completely grossed me out. It seems that after we have an outbreak of sickness I have this insensate need to clean everything. So today I can say my house is clean. I just wish I could somehow dowse myself in a vat...

Creating is refreshing to me. I am definitely starting 2010 with much inspiration and ambition. For me the new year gives me a chance to set goals for the year challenging me to be more disciplined. I know it is just another day in the scope of things but for an organized mind such as mine the first day of the year is a perfect timing to implement new ideas. One of those is to start journaling more often. I found this great idea for making these little notebooks similar to the moleskin versio...

Projects for 2010

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, In : crafting

A few projects I would like to try in 2010:
1. This scarf
2. This bag for our trips to the library
3. A few of these for some upcoming arrivals
4. Paint a tray. I found a plain white tray on one of my thrifting days and have been needing to finish it.
5. The scarf is pretty great too. Hmm, two new scarves?
6. And isn't this a fun idea for using up old magazines.
7. Also chasing this little man around. His new socks from grandma make me smile when they are on his chubby little legs.

more lights

I have to make a correction. We don't have seven hundred little lights on our tree, but rather eight hundred...(we don't have to use any other lights in the room when the tree is plugged in.)

There is just something cozy about sitting next to a Christmas tree sipping a warm beverage and watching the snow fall down.

Christmas Tree

Posted by Abby Littleton on Thursday, December 3, 2009, In : family

I am not sure the perfect tree exists after our search for one last Saturday. We found many tall trees that were beautiful, but they were much too tall. We found many small trees that were cute but they were much too small. I think the fun in cutting your own tree is the anticipation and adventure of finding the perfect tree. After an hour of searching we settled on one we had spotted at the beginning of our search. When Michael cut the chosen one he could hold it above his head with one hand...

I am so completely blessed! We took some family photos on Saturday and here are a few that turned out (we had many, many, out takes). Using a tripod and the self timer was definitely a work out for me but I am happy to have photos with all three of us!

My heart is full, and am looking forward to giving thanks tonight with my church family to the One who made us all. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

The lack of posts lately have been due to two reasons.

1. The site I use for my blog has been having issues.

On a positive side the website is now working great and has some wonderful features that were definitely worth the week or so I could not upload anything. I use yola.

letter writing

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, In : crafting
I am horrible in the art of letter writing. Some people are just so gifted in remembering every birthday, anniversary, etc... and would never think of missing a thank you note. I am one of those who loves to get thoughtful things in the mail but have a much harder time reciprocating the gesture. I love the idea of it but when it comes to writing I never know what to say. So when I received a letter from a dear friend a week ago I was determined to not let the opportunity to work on my writing...

I have been busy proofing these photos I got to take of a very dear family. This family is gorgeous! I had so much fun playing photographer and capturing their interactions. I have to say though that the day ended quite suddenly when Kim got stung by a bee. This isn't too startling but the fact that she is deathly allergic and has only fifteen minutes to get a shot or get to the hospital is. Thankfully there was an eppy pen in their vehicle. I held her hand and prayed for her as her husband, ...

I am not sure who taught Chael how to kiss but it is a passionate one indeed. Mouth open, tongue out, and drool droolin, he has got all elements covered. For sure Mike and I kiss around him but this...this...we did not teach him this. It is funny too because he prefaces his kisses with the proper lip smack, squeezing his cheeks in and puckering his lips. As he leans in he has it right you are thinking, "okay I am going to get a sweet little peck," but at the last moment he seems to realize th...

I can't even tell you the last time I had a doughnut. Growing up my favorite doughnut was the maple bar. He is so busy now! My life with him is a blur and most of the pictures I take of him. I love how when he walks it mimics an elderly man. And how when he gets excited he laughs his ridiculously forced laugh and shakes his hands up and down. When he is tired how he relaxes into my arms and stares at me with his mouth open waiting for a kiss so that I can send him off to bed; I love that. His voice is the best when it is graced with the words of ma ma...and da da. And when he looks up and gives ...

This mocha powder is very good! After finding a brand new espresso machine on one of my thrift store outings, Michael and I have made it a regular weekend treat to make cafe mochas. We have tried various syrups and powders but after trying this Starbucks brand it is by far the best. It is not to sweet, but has a rich dark chocolaty flavor that smoothly tantalizes your taste buds. We even had some freshly whipped cream this morning!

What do you do with a tomato that has a face? I discovered this unique veggie four days ago and have had a dilemma ever since. Do you each a vegetable with a face? It has such a kind face. Sweet and round it has sat staring at me in my windowsill. Now I eat many things with faces. I am not one who is against that sort of thing but when an occurrence such as this arises it seems wrong to waste a tomato with a face by slicing in a salad or on a B.L.T sandwich or mashing it up to make chilie and...

Dress Up

This photo arose from me pulling carpet staples out of the wood floor in my closet. I had been on my knees using pliers for some time when I decided my knees and back needed a break. I was pleasantly surprised at how pretty all my dresses looked from that angle. I know Michael thought I was a little off my rocker when I took the camera in the closet but by now I think he should be used to it. Can't wait till the sanding, and staining is over. So I am learning how to be ok with the mess. Now that Chael is moving I am finding it is hard to keep the house looking untouched. Not only is it the toys but the coasters, placemats, pillows, and everything else he can reach. My rugs are always crooked and the windows have a strange a smudged look to them all the time. I have to say too that the time that I am getting "real clothes" on has become later and later. My house now looks very touched and my appearance very untouched.

As I learn to...

So I am back from vacation and my husband made it back alive as well...These are some of my favorite photos from my cousin's wedding. It was absolutely delightful with all the umbrellas. The designs were wonderful. Chinese prints with lotus flowers, birds, in wonderful blues and reds. I would have loved to take some more shots but trying to juggle a ten month old, feed him cheerios to keep quiet, and attempt to take photos is a feat that I myself didn't think I was going to be able to handle....

So I have accomplished yet another milestone in my sewing adventures. I have successfully sewn a dress for myself! It fits wonderfully and I actually like it. I do have to give credit to my mother who patiently helped and answered my questions when need be. The original pattern is found
