what was I thinking

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, In : crafting

Lets just say that the Littleton house has an over abundance of threads and scraps littering our floors but hopefully not needles...(ask Michael about needles) I have been sewing like crazy since my friend (she is amazingly talented in the craft world) asked me to do a church craft fair with her. At the time it sounded like fun to get to work on projects and earn some extra money for a mission trip I am taking with the youth group this summer (that is if anyone buys this stuff). But knowing m...

journals and things

Posted by Abby Littleton on Saturday, January 2, 2010, In : crafting

Creating is refreshing to me. I am definitely starting 2010 with much inspiration and ambition. For me the new year gives me a chance to set goals for the year challenging me to be more disciplined. I know it is just another day in the scope of things but for an organized mind such as mine the first day of the year is a perfect timing to implement new ideas. One of those is to start journaling more often. I found this great idea for making these little notebooks similar to the moleskin versio...

Projects for 2010

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, In : crafting

A few projects I would like to try in 2010:
1. This scarf
2. This bag for our trips to the library
3. A few of these for some upcoming arrivals
4. Paint a tray. I found a plain white tray on one of my thrifting days and have been needing to finish it.
5. The scarf is pretty great too. Hmm, two new scarves?
6. And isn't this a fun idea for using up old magazines.
7. Also chasing this little man around. His new socks from grandma make me smile when they are on his chubby little legs.

letter writing

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, In : crafting
I am horrible in the art of letter writing. Some people are just so gifted in remembering every birthday, anniversary, etc... and would never think of missing a thank you note. I am one of those who loves to get thoughtful things in the mail but have a much harder time reciprocating the gesture. I love the idea of it but when it comes to writing I never know what to say. So when I received a letter from a dear friend a week ago I was determined to not let the opportunity to work on my writing...

Coffee Date Dress

Posted by Abby Littleton on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, In : crafting

So I have accomplished yet another milestone in my sewing adventures. I have successfully sewn a dress for myself! It fits wonderfully and I actually like it. Surprisingly so, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Zippers, interfacing, hemming, are not as hard as they sound. I do have to give credit to my mother who patiently helped and answered my questions when need be. The original pattern is found
here. I made a few slight abbreviations to the dress by leaving off the ruffle and len...

I understand

Posted by Abby Littleton on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, In : crafting

So I have been sewing a lot...If fact I have made four bags, two bibs, one pair of baby slippers, and now am embarking on a simple dress for myself. I think I am obsessed now that I have actually made something that looks half way decent and is seemingly usable. Not only that but I just received two garbage bags of material. So I have a lot of material to work with!

It is so strange to think about this because honestly as a kid growing up I did not take a liking to the sewing thing. My mo...

Thrifting

Posted by Abby Littleton on Thursday, May 28, 2009, In : crafting
1. Coat for Chael. (It is a size five so in about four years this will fit him.) We will see if it lasts that long.
2. Thermos for coffee. (Our life group drinks a lot of coffee.)
3. A dress for a friend who is having a little girl in September. (So exciting!)
4. Vintage tea towel. (I am thinking a bag or an apron)
5. A old tea pot.
6. New pair of shorts for the summer. (soooo comfy)
7. Outdoor bamboo rug for the patio.
8. Serving tray or movable island. (May paint the trays a new color)
9. Plastic b...

Pigeons

Posted by Abby Littleton on Friday, May 22, 2009, In : crafting

I am very happy to say that our wonderful neighbors (the wonderful is a recent development) tore down their pigeon coup! No longer will our backyard smell like poop. I really stink at loving my neighbors. I actually think that my attitude over the pigeon coup has stunk more than the coup itself. Mark 12:31 says "Love your neighbors as your self." This is so difficult especially when their actions effect me in a negative way. There were no exceptions to the verse. I am glad I got this pictur...

Creative Maybe?

Posted by Abby Littleton on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, In : crafting

I woke this morning with my hands ready to get something done. I had every intention of making something wonderful, beautiful, creative. Once I got my morning business done and Chael off to dreamland, I found myself staring at a multitude of supplies. Now the looming question what to do? I grabbed some material started cutting, sniping, and stitching. After about an hour or so I had made myself an object that still remains nameless. My statement to my wonderful husband who I know was secret...
