baked doughnuts

I can't even tell you the last time I had a doughnut. Growing up my favorite doughnut was the maple bar. My grandma would often bring me and my sister a baker's dozen of doughnuts from Albertson's grocery store when she would come over to visit. I would always pick the maple bar. My grandma passed away two and half years ago and since then I really have not enjoyed a good doughnut. As I was browsing a new favorite website I noticed that there was a recipe for baked doughnuts. I could not resist. It has been way too long.
I have to say they were very good. They are not like a fried doughnut but more like a soft chewy cinnamon roll with the cinnamon on the outside and no frosting. My hubby ate three...or maybe four, in other words he really liked them. It took some time and I only had one doughnut turn out with a correct sized hole (so make the middle holes bigger than a quarter) but it was defiantly worth the work. The above photo is of the one doughnut with the hole.
